The Republic of El Salvador, is a sovereign state located in Central America, with a population of 6,251,495 inhabitants. For its land area consists of 20,742 square km has the highest population density in Latin America.
Territorial Organization:
El Salvador is divided into 14 departments with a grouping into three areas are: West Zone, Central Zone and East Zone. Each department is subdivided into municipalities which have autonomy in technical, economic and administrative. These municipalities are governed by municipal councils which are elected every three years.
